Advanced Seminars – “Autumn Workshop: Environmental Agrobiology” (University of the Basque Country, UPV/EHU)

Last week (3-4 November 2016), we participated in a series of Advanced Seminars organized by the Department of Plant Physiology and Ecology of the University of the Basque Country, as part of a PhD Programme on Environmental Agrobiology. Anders Lanzén gave a seminar entitled “Sequencing data in environmental genomics – Exploring the diversity of the microbial biosphere”. Carlos Garbisu gave a talk on the use of microorganisms in the phytoremediation of contaminated soils. A previous member of our group, María T. Gómez-Sagasti gave a talk on ecotoxicogenomics. Finally, Rafael Gómez, a PhD student, supervised by José M. Becerril (UPV/EHU) and Carlos Garbisu, gave a talk on rhizoremediation of contaminated soil. During this event, one of our international collaborators, Prof. Michel Mench (INRA/University of Bordeaux) gave a very interesting talk entitled “Phytomanagement to restore degraded soils”.
