The Soil Microbial Ecology Group of NEIKER-Tecnalia is carrying out a study which aims to assess the feasibility of the liquid homemade fertilizers so-called “Biols” as alternative fertilizers. The project has the financial support of the HAZI foundation and the help of a group of farmers from the province of Alava.
The feasibility of the “Biols” will be evaluated both in terms of crop production and of the impact on soil quality. In addition, in order to optimize its use, (i) the most appropiate dose of use, (ii) the way of application, (iii) the variability of biols of different origin and (iv) its effects on cereal versus horticultural crops is being studied.
